This unique and inspiring program is designed specifically for larger women whose needs have not been met by mainstream yoga instructors. Now there’s a class just for them, complete with specialized poses, simple props, and the encouragement of a plus-sized yogi who knows from her own experience how to bring both the physical and spiritual benefits of yoga to every woman, regardless of her size or level of fitness.

3 Stars Good Plus Size Yoga Program
I enjoyed the book immensely, especially the parts about using props and how to deal with the “fleshier” parts (i.e. breasts, belly) during yoga. However, unless you can memorize the poses, it’s rather frustrating. I wish the book was spiral bound so that it could be layed completely flat or could be propped up like some other yoga books. I liked the 2 yoga programs at the end of the book, but I think they are somewhat unrealistic for today’s woman - the workouts vary from 30 to 90 minutes and Megan high encourages yoga to be done EVERY morning. I like yoga, but, come on! Most women, especially moms will find it nearly impossible in the rushed morning chaos to devote 30-90 minutes to yoga. For those single gals out there or those who work part time, I can see how this would work.
5 Stars Very Impressed!
One of my students told me about this book some time ago, and I recently added it to my yoga library. This book is for anyone who is looking for various approaches to being in an asana, and it presents challenges to take each asana to another level or two of intensity. This is not just for people of larger proportion, but those with physical limitations as well. Guess those two categories catch just about everyone! I have a library full of yoga books (alas, so many focused on people with picture perfect bodies) that I glean information from for my classes and students. This book does not have to take a back seat to any of them and will be my new constant companion as I continue to find new, exciting and interesting ways to bring yoga to those who have “real life” bodies. This book is beautifully written with sensitivity, the color illustrations of the asanas are informative, and the information is sound and bears itself out in practice.
5 Stars Upbeat and informative
I am a yoga teacher with several Mega students in class. This book really helped me understand the challenges they face and gave me GREAT ways to help them in the postures. Megan is inspirational and very upbeat. I am all about inclusion and this really has helped me to accommodate larger women. A great resource on my bookshelf!
5 Stars Love, love, love this book
I’ve been a big fan of the Just My Size yoga video for about two years. I just found out this book exists and checked it out at my local library. I’ll be buying my own copy within the next couple of weeks. I love Megan’s upbeat attitude and am going to try to learn to not apologize for taking up as much space as I do. I like the layout of the book and all of the pictures make it easy to figure out the poses. It’s worth it to have both the DVD and book–there’s a lot more info available in the book. I can’t wait to see what book or DVD Megan will publish next–I think I might be a groupie!
4 Stars good for beginners
This book is a good start for those with weight problems. [...] . I also like MS. Garcia’s emphasis on the mental and breathing aspects of yoga, as well as form. However, this book is clearly intended for people who are completely out of shape or who have never been in shape. Although I am very overweight, I found the first two routines to be too easy. That being said, again, this is a great book for newbies, and a good adaptation reference for us zaftig athletes.
